A tragic incident has occurred in Enugu State, where Councilor Nelson Sylvester, also known as Ofunwa, representing Eha-Ulo ward in Nsukka Local Government Area Legislative Council, has been fatally shot.

The shocking incident took place on Sunday night at his residence in Eha-Alumonah.

While specific details about the incident remain unclear, a reliable source has revealed that the attackers forcefully entered the lawmaker’s house and mercilessly opened fire on him. Fleeing for his life, the Councilor sought refuge in a nearby compound, only for his lifeless body to be discovered there later.

As news of this appalling incident spread, it has generated significant unrest and anxiety not only within the town but also among neighbouring communities. The local residents are understandably shaken by the tragic loss of their representative and the resulting tension in the area.

The source, who described the suspected assassination as one too many, added that “it is heartbreaking; it is too hard for us to swallow. We are in deep agony.”

However, DSP Ndukwe stated that he was unable to answer phone calls at the moment.
